Jennifer Patton graduated from The John Marshall Law School in 1994. After passing the Illinois Bar and being admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois, Jennifer began her legal career with a private firm in Cook County, where she concentrated on criminal law matters throughout Cook, DuPage, and Lake Counties for five years.
In 2000, Jennifer relocated to Bloomington, Illinois, and joined the McLean County State’s Attorney’s Office. During her fourteen years with the office, she served in several leadership roles, including Head of the Domestic Violence Division, designated attorney for child sex crime prosecutions, and leader of the Sexual Assault Task Force. Her extensive prosecutorial experience provided her with significant courtroom and trial experience in complex criminal matters.
In 2014, Jennifer transitioned to the McLean County Public Defender’s Office to help ensure that indigent individuals in McLean County received high-quality legal representation. After serving as First Assistant Public Defender, Jennifer decided to establish her own practice in order to provide clients with more personalized and dedicated legal services.
On January 1, 2019, Jennifer founded JP Law Office. On January 2, 2026, she became a founding partner of Patton Moore Perry Law Office. Jennifer remains committed to providing clients with individualized attention, clear communication, and strong courtroom advocacy.
Jennifer focuses her practice primarily in the areas of criminal defense and family law. In criminal matters, she represents clients in cases ranging from traffic offenses and DUI charges to misdemeanors, juvenile delinquency proceedings, and serious felony cases. In family law matters, she assists clients with divorce, parenting and custody disputes, and also serves as a Guardian ad Litem, making recommendations regarding the best interests of children.
No matter the type of case, Jennifer is committed to ensuring her clients understand the legal process, have their questions answered, and receive experienced and effective representation both in and out of court.
